Crisis within Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress

(Bernama) – The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) is experiencing internal crisis as some of its members claim that their 33rd annual general meeting held on 26 April was not valid because it went against the clauses of the party's constitution.

Federal Territory Kimma deputy secretary-general Mohd Fazil William Abdullah said this was because a written notice was not sent to each branch at least 28 days before the meeting as required by the constitution.

"In addition, the annual and financial reports were not sent to the delegation seven days prior to the meeting," he told Bernama.

In fact, he said, the Kelantan, Terengganu and Federal Territory Kimma, as well as some of the party's supreme council, had filed a report to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) regarding the matter.

"We ask for the ROS to declare the meeting as void," he said.

Mohd Faizal said they were also disappointed because the suggestion by the Federal Territory, Terengganu and Kelantan Kimma to limit the duration of the presidency to two terms was not discussed in the annual general meeting.
