Jayagopal: PKR made me an offer to stay out

(The Star) – A former PKR division leader will lodge reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Election Commission (EC) in Alor Star today with claims that he was offered RM150,000 by PKR to stay out of the Bukit Selambau by-election.

A. Jayagopal, who was the former Pokok Sena PKR division chief, said he had lodged a report at the Sungai Petani district police station last Saturday.

“I was advised by the police to lodge official complaints with the MACC and the EC.

“I will also reveal two other corruption cases involving a former PKR state exco member in Kedah when I meet MACC officers tomorrow,” he said yesterday.

He said the two cases involved sums of RM5,000 and RM7,000 which had been approved by the state exco member to individuals without adhering to government procedure.

Jayagopal, who contested in the Bukit Selambau by-election as an independent candidate, recently alleged that a senior PKR leader had offered him money at a cafe in Sungai Petani to withdraw from the by-election.
