A four-year-old grand-daughter of Sarawak chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud died today, a day after falling into a swimming pool at the Nusantara condominium along Jalan Duta.

Celestia Lulua Taib, daughter of businessman Datuk Seri Mamud Abu Bekir, died at the Kuala Lumpur hospital and was buried at the Bukit Kiara muslim cemetery.

Her family members, when met at the mortuary, were too distraught to speak.

It is understood that Celestia was playing by the side of the pool when she slipped and fell in.

Family members immediately jumped in and pulled her out.

They rushed her to the hospital where she was later reported to be in stable condition.

It is learnt that police will question family members and their maid who were present during the incident.

Sentul district police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said the child’s mother, who is separated from her husband, lodged a police report on the incident at 7pm on Monday.
