Kit Siang insists Najib needs to clear his name once and for all

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang renewed calls for investigations into allegations of the Prime Minister's involvement in the death of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaaribuu.

In response to Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s answer of there being “no evidence” when questioned by the foreign press in Beijing while on an official visit to China, Lim challenged the prime minister to hold a royal commission of inquiry to clear his name once and for all.

“It will not go away until there is a satisfactory investigation to get to the bottom of the allegations,” he said.

Lim told The Malaysian Insider that the fact that Najib was being “dogged” by the issue at home and abroad shows that it has hampered his credibility and that he must clear his name.

He also called Najib’s tongue-in-cheek comment about Altantuya staying in a "two-star rundown hotel" distasteful and showed a distinct lack of respect for the murdered Mongolian.

Opposition leaders have repeatedly tried to link Najib to the murder. The 28-year-old model and translator was having an affair with his close friend and aide Abdul Razak Baginda when she was shot on Oct 19, 2006. Her body was then blown up in a forest outside Kuala Lumpur, and only fragments were found.
