Only Dumb Asses Touch Sacred Cows

Fools go where angels fear to tread. Only dumb asses touch sacred cows. Take your pick. They mean roughly the same things.

In Malaysia politics is a deadly serious game especially when UMNO looks as if it will not relinquish power voluntarily once it falls into their hands. In Wilayah Persekutuan KL where the opposition has a majority, UMNO still controls the city council. This means that there is Federal control of an area where the opposition is in the majority.

How is this so? That is because local council elections were suspended after Emergency rule was declared and up till now I cannot remember any Emergency that was formally and legally ended. But that is not the point I want to make. My point is that UMNO will not relinquish power voluntarily once it falls into their hands, so it becomes dangerous for political opponents of UMNO as it becomes increasingly obvious that UMNO will go to great lengths including use of ISA and Sedition Acts and only UMNO knows what else to cling on to power.

This means that dumb asses who touch sacred cows are their own worst enemies. To justify my argument, let us take hypothetical scenarios.

Almost everybody agrees that the backbone of UMNO’s power are the Malays. But the Malays are not a homogeneous lot. Let us say that 30% of Malays will support UMNO come what may while the other 70% are either undecided or convinced that no political party should rule permanently and that a loyal opposition must be given the chance to make some checks and balances.

Since it is pointless to consider the 30% of UMNO Malays (please do not argue about these figures – they are just hypothetical), let us concentrate on the 70% (again I repeat – these figures have no bearing on reality and are just for the sake of argument).

Of the Malays that are undecided or convinced that Malaysia needs a healthy 2 party system, let us say for arguments sake they are equally divided into various groups. For our purpose (again purely for the sake of argument and debate) let us assume 4 major and equal groupings. All these groupings have their sacred cows just as the nons have their own sacred cows.

Just notice the great hoopla whenever anyone touches upon the sacred cows of the nons. One of them is calling nons “immigrants”. So calling nons “immigrants” is touching upon one of the sacred cows of the nons. Further notice the screams whenever a keris is waved in the air. So also the various groupings of Malays have their sacred cows.

My argument is that it is really stupid of people who want a healthy 2 party system, whatever their race to touch upon the sacred cows of the Malays (or the nons for that matter).

For example, if you say you want a republic because the Malay rulers are a waste of public funds, you will alienate one grouping out of 4. This means you have lost the support of 25% of 70% of Malays.

If in addition you say that Islam is bad, you will alienate another grouping. This means you have lost the support of 50% of 70% of Malays.

If you are so dumb as to further say that Malays are useless, you will alienate still a further grouping. This means you will have lost the support of 75% of 70% of Malays.

This means that what is left are 25% of 70% of Malays who are so patient as to realize that you dumbos and asinine fools are your own worst enemies whatever race you come from. This means there are not enough votes, however you want to manipulate the figures to kick a long overdue government out in the next GE.

So for those with gigantic egos who think they are so clever because they earn above RM3000 and have access to the internet and have a university degree, you are really still children when it comes to politics and you are only opening your big mouths to your own detriment. I guess if you earn less than RM1500, have no access to the internet and have only secondary school education, you have an excuse, but then you won’t be reading this.

So please stop touching on sacred cows so that the struggle for a healthy 2 party system can go on more smoothly without your dumb ass contributions.

If you think you cannot contribute constructive comments, at least contribute Ringgit Malaysia to NGOs or opposition parties who are struggling to create a healthy 2 party system that is relatively free of corruption and abuse of power and where the civil service, police and judiciary is neutral and professionally competent.

El Cheapo destructive comments do not help at all.

(BTW, I hope you don’t think this write-up is cheap or destructive and is a valuable lesson in critical thinking in stone cold politics.)
