PAS Women representative Dr Lo' Lo' Ghazali ticked off delegates who have raised the issue of dress code and the wearing of headscarves by women member of the media at the party's muktamar on Saturday.

She said the issue of dress code and the issue of whether a woman wore tudung or not was a trivial matter that should not have been raised during the debate.

She said that while PAS always encouraged women to dress appropriately, the party had never resorted to force.

In her winding up speech, the member of Parliament for Titiwangsa also said that nowhere in the party's constitution did it specify that women must wear the scarves.

During the debate on the motion of thanks to the party president's policy speech on saturday, several delegates had slammed some women member of the media covering the muktamar for not wearing the tudung.

"PAS must be seen as an inclusive and not exclusive party. We need to use the soft approach by offering advice and not by trying to use force," said Dr Lo' Lo'.

Similar approach, she said, should also be adopted by the party towards the group that she termed as "dual world creatures(transvestite) that were active plying out their trade behind the party's headquarters in Lorong Haji Taib, Kuala Lumpur.

"We are still unable to tackle that problem. Do we refuse their request if one day they say they want to attend our muktamar? So please be more open, after all we are already a government in waiting," she added.

Dr Lo' Lo' who is the sole woman candidate elected to the party's central committee, also lamented the delegates' rejection of other women candidates.

She it was time that the party elevated the women's status to higher than just as tea ladies.
