Do Not Be Fooled by the “Ban Sisters in Islam†Issue
After doing some checking, the resolution that was passed by Muktamar has no bearing towards PAS real stand on freedom of speech and expression. It is more towards preventing the abuse of the word Islam by certain quarters in Malaysia.

A statement by PAS Youth Head, Nasruddin Tantawi, (http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/106100) clarified the meaning of “banning” that is contained in the resolution. The entire resolution, was never meant to ban SIS from it’s existence.
Rather, the ban is directed to the usage of the word Islam in it’s name. Since, SIS has issued so many statements deemed to be contradictory to Shariah, PAS has called upon the National Fatwa Council to investigate the real stand of SIS.
And if found that their stand to be deemed contradictory to Islam, then they should ceased to exists as “Sisters in Islam” but rather “Sisters in Malaysia” or any other sort of name it wishes but not using the name Islam.
