Nik Aziz: Stop dealings with Umno
(The Star) – PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has reiterated his unflinching stand on attempts by certain party leaders to have talks with Umno over the unity government issue.
The Kelantan Mentri Besar said he would never agree to such talks and called those bent on opening dialogue with Umno as the party’s puppets.
He said he had advised these leaders to stop having anything to do with Umno and hope they would heed his advice.
“No human is free of mistakes. A wife may have wronged her husband, a child also could do the same to his parents and a leader may also commit mistakes.

“There is a method of solving this problem and my first method is to advise. I had argued with them and at the moment I do not wish to say any more than that,” he told reporters after meeting Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew at his office yesterday.
Lee, who is on an eight-day visit to Malaysia, met Nik Abdul Aziz for more than 45 minutes.
Singapore Finance Minister Thar- man Shanmuganathan, Education Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen and senior parliamentary secretary for Educa- tion and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli accompanied Lee.
Nik Abdul Aziz, however, refused to comment when asked whether he would step down as PAS spiritual leader as a sign of protest if other party leaders proceeded with the planned talk.
On Lee’s visit, Nik Abdul Aziz said he was happy that the Singapore senior leader came to Kelantan to visit him.
“Lee invited me to Singapore but I had to decline because of health reasons and he came here to find out for himself whether what he read in the newspapers about Kelantan were true.
“He commented that Kelantan is clean and that the people lived in harmony among all races.
“He also asked me about race relations in Malaysia should PAS wrest control of the government from Barisan Nasional and I replied that he could see for himself that I have visited Buddhist monks in Tumpat and Christian leaders came to my office for discussions,” he said.
He said he however told Lee that he could not comment on the political relationship between Malaysia and Singapore as he was just a mentri besar of a state.
