Gerakan VP Huan suspended for three years

(The Star) – Outspoken Gerakan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan has been suspended for three years by the party central working committee for his earlier media outburst on his plan to resign.

He sent an SMS to media representatives informing them that the CWC made the decision during a meeting on Friday night.

He added that he was informed of the decision by the party secretary-general through an SMS on Saturday morning.

When contacted later, Huan said he would issue a statement soon and had yet to decide if he would appeal against the decision.

Huan was elected one of three vice-presidents in Gerakan’s party election last year.

He is said to be a popular grassroots leader and is a director of special functions in Parliament.
