Ida Nerina has fractured spine, may be paralysed

(The Star) – The local entertainment scene was in shock Monday morning after Malay-language media reported that popular actress Ida Nerina had fractured her spine in a fall.

She fell at a condominium in Persiaran Syed Putra here on Sunday and her legs may be paralysed, the reports said.

She is in stable condition and is resting after spinal cord surgery conducted at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, where the Akademi Fantasia Season Seven (AF7) instructor was referred after first being brought to Pantai Medical Centre for emergency treatment.

The press has not been able to confirm the news with her family.

However her friend Fatimah Abu Bakar, also an AF7 instructor, said the actress’ husband Shahrin Razali — drummer for rock group Blackrose — had confirmed the news, according to Malay media reports.

She refused to comment further on what had caused the fall.

Ida Nerina's manager Fizar Harun denied rumours that the actress was assaulted, according to an mStar report.

Last November, Ida and her good friend Tania Khan finished third in The Amazing Race Asia 3. Dubbed the actress and the heiress in the race, the duo were leading in the beginning but lost crucial time when they missed their flight to Phuket, the final destination of The Amazing Race Asia 3.
