Unfortunately, this otherwise wonderful week was ruined by the Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. While the Sarawak State Government, SUHAKAM and Malaysian Police all declared their intents to launch full investigation into the matter, it was the former Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen who finally commissioned and despatched a task force to Baram in November 2008.

It has been 7 months since the task force completed its investigations into allegations of sexual abuses against the Penan young girls and women in the interiors of Sarawak infested by logging activities, the task force report was withheld.
