C/Insp among five cops nabbed for drugs

(The Star) – Five policemen, including a chief inspector, tested positive for drugs when a Bukit Aman narcotics team raided a nightclub in Jalan Kepong in Jinjang here.

The five were among 15 off-duty policemen from various districts in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, including an assistant superintendent, found there in the 3am raid yesterday.

Several packets of substances, believed to be drugs, were found scattered on the floor, Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan said, adding that the nightclub had been operating for about five weeks.

“The police are not biased. Action will be taken against anyone found breaking the law without fear or favour,” he said.

“Of the 306 club patrons screened, 70, including 27 women, tested positive for ketamine, methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he added.

Those detained would be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a fine of not more than RM5,000 or a jail term of not more than two years, or both.
