Seek God’s forgiveness, Nik Aziz told

(The Star) MUAR: PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat should seek forgiveness from God for likening Umno to Ayah Pin and the Sky Kingdom and branding the party as communist and socialist, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

As an ulama, the PAS leader knew better than making such accusations against a party which belonged to the Malays (and) who are also Muslims, the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Speaking to reporters, he said certain parties had called for Nik Aziz to ask forgiveness from Umno for the accusation but the PAS leader should actually seek forgiveness from God.

“When a Muslim accuses another of not being a Muslim, well, I really don’t know what to say as such an accusation is a very serious offence in Islam.”

The PAS leader should not get over-excited with politics to the extent of putting aside religion and calling another Muslim infidel, he said in Kampung Jayor near Pagoh yesterday.

On the July 14 Manek Urai by-election, Muhyiddin said he would be in Kelantan today for Barisan Nasional’s announcement of its candidate. “We think Barisan has a good chance.”

In Kuala Lumpur, Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said Manek Urai voters should vote for change by giving Barisan Nasional a chance to bring a difference to their constituency.

“There has been no development in Kelantan or Manek Urai under PAS,” she said.

“This is a chance for voters to give a signal that they are done with the rhetoric. Rhetoric will not guarantee a stable government,” she said after attending the national level Father’s Day celebrations here yesterday.
