Autodemoracecratic System

Take a pinch of democracy. Add a generous portion of autocracy and a spoonful of racism to it. Mix it up well and what do you get? A confused system that is neither here nor there. Behold, here is … Autodemoracecracy, where the pillars of democracy are knocked down, the autocratic manifesto is lauded as truth and the race card utilized to the hilt to separate a nation of people.

By Hakim Joe

When the ruling cadre adopts a democratic system as its structure of governance with the Constitution being the highest law of the land, it can be rightfully construed that the democratic powers are at work here where strength is derived from the people, human rights and civil liberties are respected, justice is imminent and the rule of law is persistent. Where there are no discrimination, no racial segregation, no repressive laws, no non-accountability and no partiality. Where a person is judged not by the color of his skin or the religion he practices, but by the strength of his character and his integrity.

Having stated the above, what constitutes an autocratic-democratic government? Best example is Iran where there exist a Supreme Leader (based on an Islamic model) but the government are democratically elected and not appointed by this one man. Yes, even though the Supreme Leader is always consulted on government decisions, it is very seldom that he will involve himself in the routine administrative affairs of the nation. This is by no means having carte blanche as the Supreme Leader (in this case the Ayatollah) can veto any decisions made by the democratically elected government without having to give any reasons as his word is law.

Racism is another dish all by itself. Racism promotes the existence of a “super-race” based on a self-belief that his or her race is deemed more “superior” to the rest. It also identifies prejudice, oppression and discrimination as its rightful obligation to sponsor and support a certain race at the expense of other races, and to utilize this action as means to propagate misinformation in order to garner support for its existence. Typical examples include South Africa’s regime of Apartheid, Nazi Germany under Hitler and the oppression against the Kurds by Saddam Hussein.

Now suppose we have a government that calls all the shots and incarcerates those who are against their program, a government that promotes disunity amongst its multiracial people by openly supporting one single race, a government that permits the existence of opposition parties but goes to all lengths to discredit and abuse them, a government that introduces repressive laws and exploits the system … what do we have here?

I don’t know what you call it but I call it the Autodemoracecratic System of governance.
