It’s time for Pakatan Rakyat to wake up to reality

If Pakatan still does not get or ignores the message brought by the Manik Urai by-election, it is going to face an even harder future!

How could there be so much troubles and disputes within Pakatan Rakyat?

After losing the Perak state regime and before Pakatan could learn from the mistake, it started to face never-ending internal frictions. Is it true that Pakatan’s honeymoon period has passed?

Penang is facing the Kampung Buah Pala issue while PKR’s Seberang Prai municipal councilors boycotted the swearing-in ceremony of the new council president.

In Selangor, PKR’s Wangsa Maju MP Wee Chee Keong claimed that he has received complaints about the “office of a certain exco member” was being used as a meeting place for people connected with “underground business activities”.

"But it is very hard not to be disappointed by the series of incidents occurred in just one and a half year."

Meanwhile, Kedah is facing the issue of pig abattoir demolition and in Perak, Pakatan lost its state regime. And in Kelantan, The Battle of Waterloo nearly repeated during the Manik Urai by-election in which PAS Youth and UMNO Youth seemed like up to something.

The people are dumbfounded to see one after another of these incidents to happen within a month. What actually is going wrong?

The people wanted changes during the 8 March general elections, giving an opportunity for Pakatan to rise and unexpectedly, they won five state regimes, which have written a new chapter in Malaysia’s politics.

However, Pakatan showed its weaknesses in less than one and a half year time.

The change of Perak regime revealed its vulnerability in which some of its members are lack of quality and ideology. However, due to the dissatisfaction with BN’s means used to seize the state power, the betrayal of political frogs, together with the remaining tsunami effect of the previous general elections, the general public was still standing on Pakatan’s side.

It can be said that even it has lost the Perak regime, most of the people still gave credit to Pakatan.

Unfortunately, a series of incidents occurred since then and those with great expectations were deeply anguished.

One after another dispute over the distribution of power and benefits that again and again went against its “people-oriented” ideology have made Pakatan’s internal conflict to surface. And it seems like the people think that Pakatan has become more and more similar to BN. It means that Pakatan started to lose points in the people’s hearts.

Back to reality, we must admit that Pakatan is still a very new political grouping and it is lack of a common ideology for long-term political struggle.

The people understand that it needs time to run such a new political grouping. But it is very hard not to be disappointed by the series of incidents occurred in just one and a half year.

Don’t laugh at BN for boasting itself; don’t overlook the effect of BN’s little favours; don’t question whether the rising people approval rating of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is faked; don’t be muckraking but never solve the problems and stop having blind faith in personal heroic charisma. If Pakatan still does not get or ignores the message brought by the Manik Urai by-election, it is going to face an even harder future!

The history has given Pakatan an opportunity, but if Pakatan misses it, the fleeting opportunity may be gone forever. This is the so-called politics. This is the so-called reality. Pakatan Rakyat, it is time to wake up to reality!
