Nazri stands by statement on ‘crooks’

(Bernama) – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz said yesterday he did not harbour any guilt for having described three former top public office holders as crooks nor would he want to withdraw his statement.

He said he had no fear for having spoken up and that he had merely stated facts.

“Do I look like a person who is scared? To me, they are not good guys, they are not heroes. They can take me to court,” he told reporters here.

On Monday, Nazri had described them as crooks for their sharp criticism of the government, saying they had forgotten that they used to serve and defend the administration.

He said that when they were in the government, they were staunch supporters of the administration but when they left, they became the biggest critics.

Their criticism of the present government’s policies was not helping to defend the present administration and that it had become a tool for the opposition to criticise the government, he said.
