Survey shows young graduates have confidence in Najib

(Bernama) KUALA LUMPUR: Young graduates have great confidence in the leadership, capability and performance of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in administering and developing the country.

Principal Fellow of the Malaysian Career Foundation (YKM) Datuk Dr Sulaiman Mad Yassin said that according to a survey carried out, 71% of the 1,273 respondents had placed their trust and hopes in the prime minister's leadership.

"YKM had sent emails to the respondents at random from the list of job-seekers from the Manpower Department, Ministry of Human Resources according to gender stratification, educational level and state," he told reporters referring to the survey, here today.

He said the survey, which was carried out for three days from July 14, had shown that 76% of the youths supported the 1Malaysia concept, followed by 67% supporting the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and 64% saying that the Prime Minister had handled the national issues well.

Based on the survey, it could be concluded that political awareness among the educated youths was positive and that they were not inclined towards any political, racial or ideological agenda, said Dr Sulaiman, who is also a Senior Fellow of the Social-Science Institute, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Meanwhile, 18 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today formed the NGO Alliance for 1Malaysia (NGAM) as a special gift to Najib in conjunction with his 56th birthday.

Among other things, NGAM was set up to urge the people to give their support to the 1Malaysia concept through various activities such as ceramah, seminars and information campaigns and to make recommendations on public policies and projects to resolve issues pertaining to 1Malaysia.

In addition, it will also provide professional and voluntary resources to assist the Cabinet ministers in achieving their KPI with regard to 1Malaysia.
