Police record statements from Ean Yong’s personal assistants

(Bernama) – Two personal assistants to Selangor New Village Development and Illegal Factories Task Force Committee chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah gave their statements to the police on the death political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

Evonne Lee, 40, and Thong Kim Fatt, 53, were accompanied by lawyer Teoh Weng Keng when their statements were taken at the Shah Alam police district headquarters this afternoon.

Lee said she was called up by the police last Friday to have her statement taken as her telephone number was found in the Teoh's call list.

"Thong and I had contacted him (Teoh) at noon on July 15 when MACC officers visited Seri Kembangan assemblyman’s (Ean-Yong) office to look for account statements. He (Teoh) was at the state secretariat then.

"However, after he entered the MACC office in the afternoon, we could no longer reach him on the phone," she told reporters here today.

Teoh, 30, the political secretary of Ean-Yong fell to his death from the 14th floor of Plaza Masalam on July 16. He was taken in for questioning by the MACC on July 15 over the alleged misappropriation of state funds by several assemblymen. Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said human rights lawyer Malik Imtiaz Sarwar would represent the state government at the inquest into Teoh's death.
