The Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will seek an audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong to ask for amendments to the terms of reference of the royal commission of inquiry to investigate the procedures used by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

The federal opposition wants the commission to also investigate the cause of  death of DAP’s Teoh Beng Hock who was found outside Selangor MACC headquarters on July 16, one day after he was called in for questioning.

PR also wants the King not to consent to the extension of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan’s service, which is due to end in September.

“We have decided for the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council to seek an audience with the Yang DiPertuan Agong on the issue of the royal commission of inquiry and the extension of the IGP’s service,” said Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after chairing a PR leadership council meeting.

“We do not want the institution of the monarchy to be exploited in the formation of the commission when it does not fulfill the intended objectives of seeking justice,” Anwar told a press conference.
