Muhyiddin: Umno has changed for the better

(Bernama) TEMERLOH: Umno has changed for the better, and this augurs well for the party in the next general election, says party deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has instituted numerous changes in Umno, putting the party and the Government back on track.

“Within just four months, the president has managed to instil new hope in the party.

“I see him as a leader with a clear vision for the country, and someone with bold and constructive ideas,” he said when opening the Temerloh Umno delegates’ meeting here yesterday.

He described the changes instituted by Najib, who is the Prime Minister, as a crucial impetus, at a time when the party was facing a critical stage.

He also said it was important for party members to be with the leaders and help the people solve problems.

“The Prime Minister himself has been going to the grassroots to listen to the people’s wishes and aspirations,” he said.

Umno and other Barisan Nasional component parties should also mobilise their machinery to counter allegations being spread by Opposition parties, he added.

Muhyiddin earlier opened the Bera Umno delegates’ meeting, where he told them he appreciated their support for him in calling PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a traitor to the Malay race.
