Ex-MB thinking of suing letter writers

(Malaysian Mirror) – Former mentri besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo is thinking of suing the writers of a letter that implicated a high-profile politician and an MACC official in an alleged plot to topple the Selangor government.

He has asked his lawyer to study in detail the letter that has been posted on numerous portals and blogs, which made the allegations against the politician and an official of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He told this to mStar, the Malay news portal of The Star, on Friday, in response to the widely circulated letter that also talked of a witch hunt against some Selangor state executive councilors, which indirectly led to the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock on July 16.

Decision after returning home from Makkah

"Let’s wagobind-singh-deo-2.jpgit and see first. I have asked my lawyer to study the matter,” added Dr Khir, who is currently performing the umrah in Makkah.

“Any decision or action will be taken only after I return (to Malaysia),” he said.

On Wednesday, during the inquest into Teoh’s death, lawyer Gobind Singh Deo (pic) submitted to the coroner’s court a letter that he said had a bearing on the case.

Coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas has since asked the police to investigate the matter.

The MACC, however, said that it has to see if the letter submitted at the court is the same version of the letter that has now been published online.

Alleged shady deals

The cyberspace letter named a high-profile politician and a key official in the Selangor bureau of the MACC as the brains behind a move to crush the current state government, with details of alleged shady deals involving the anti-corruption man.
