Classes postponed as school has no roof

(The Star) STUDENTS and teachers of Kg Sungei Tukang Tamil school came back from their one-week holiday to find their building stripped of a roof.

Malaysia Nanban reported that due to the shoddy condition of the school, which is located about 5km from Sungai Petani, classes were postponed and students had to be taken home by their parents.

The school’s Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) chairman G. Muniandy complained that the contractor hired to construct an extension to the school’s building during the holidays had not completed the job despite promising to do so.

Muniandy said the Kuala Muda Public Works Department had previously held a discussion with the contractor, during which the latter had given his promise.

He added that the situation had left the school’s 140 students, who would be sitting for their UPSR examinations next week, in a quandary.
