Gentleman Gocoh Part II : Time for Unconvetional Warfare
It was several months ago when I had posted an article about the situation in Trengganu (which as usual the article went missing), and today I feel its time for a sequel to the story.
Lets just do a recap. Somewhere in April, there was rumours that a sizeable number of BN/UMNO Aduns were planning to boycott the sitting. If memory serves me right, they were said to be holed up in a hotel as they were fearful due to an SMS having been sent to them that promised harm if they decided to forward a motion of no-confidence against the Menteri Besar, Dato' Ahmad Said.
The situation then became so bad that I believe a group of them met up with the PM/DPM followed by the MB himself having a tête-à-tête at Putrajaya. The police followed through on the investigation and after several headlines, the issue died out.
Then in early June, the roof of the recently concluded State Stadium at Gong Badak collapsed. Many took this as a sign that with the collapse there goes any form of resistance towards Dato Ahmad Said's rule. I certainly did so.
In the intertwinning months, the political situation deteriorated significantly for Barisan Nasional. The Federal Government had to face a barrage of no less than 7 onslaughts one after the other namely the Teoh Beng Hock issue, the PKFZ scandal, the ISA protests, the defeat in Permatang Pasir, the MCA Crisis, the H1N1 epidemic, a continually deteriorating economy and the latest being the Cow Head issue.
Only a brave man will say UMNO is strong now. For the Barisan Nasional ship, the on going polemics in MCA, MIC, PPP and SPDP makes it look anything but steady.
And to that we add the 8th crisis – the talk of dissension in UMNO Trengganu. All in a span of about 60+ days, meaning on average a new crisis every week for the past 2 months.
The issue is now deemed to be so bad that it warrants yet another intervention by the Deputy Prime Minister. Some say that amongst those he is scheduled to meet includes the PAS Trengganu Comissioner, Datuk Harun Taib, and of course the usual suspects.
