MB: Pakatan reps reveal true colours
(The Star) IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir is confident that Pakatan Rakyat’s antics on Wednesday has only succeeded in showing the people their true colours.
“I do not think that by doing what they did, they created confusion among the people over which is the rightful government.
“If anything, they only succeeded in showing the people their true face,” he told a press conference after chairing the Perak Water Board meeting yesterday.
Dr Zambry added that the people of Perak were now given better opportunities to understand what Pakatan was truly made of.
On Wednesday, Pakatan representatives attempted to storm into the state assembly hall in the State Secretariat here where they had intended to hold their state assembly sitting.
This resulted in a clash with the police and led to the arrests of seven people.
They then proceeded to have the sitting at a hotel.
Dr Zambry also scoffed at former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin who said that any notice that Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan sends out for another state assembly sitting would be considered “null and void” because his appointment was illegitimate.
In Putrajaya, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the decision to hold the sitting at a hotel by the Pakatan assemblymen after the Court of Appeal ordered that Barisan Nasional had control of the state assembly was a clear disrespect for the process of law and the judiciary.
The Perak Pakatan, he said, should realise that actions, like holding their own state assembly sitting, were in vain and only served to stir up tension in the state.
“This might be their intention but it is not good for efforts to stabilise the political scenario in the state,” he told reporters after chairing the cabinet committee meeting on tourism.
In Alor Star, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the sitting was meant to create disorder in the state.
He added the sitting had no legal standing “but we cannot not stop them because if we do, they will create a new story.”
