Article in Malaysia Today entitled APH – Another PKFZ?

By Terence Yeoh, General Manager of Group Legal and Secretarial (Nam Fatt Construction Sdn. Bhd)

1. We refer to the article entitled "APH – Another PKFZ?" which was written by "Umnocovering Corruption" and posted on Malaysia Today by admin on 7 September 2009.

2. In the above article, the writer writing under "Umnocovering Corruption" claimed amongst others, that –

"The APH Project was scheduled to be completed this year but hardly half has been finished as unconfirmed rumors have it that Nam Fatt was not performing and was subsequently dismissed as a contractor with Rotary of Singapore being the new contractor."

3. The above statement is completely untrue and we deny that –
(a) we were not performing; and/or
(b) we were subsequently dismissed as a contractor.

4. In view of the fact that we are a contractor to the Asia Petroleum Hub (APH) project and have not been dismissed as claimed in your article, the issue of Rotary of Singapore being the new contractor does not arise in any way.

5. While we respect and acknowledge your right to express and publish your views, we regret that you have recklessly chosen to publish unconfimed rumours which affect our reputation and standing in the industry sectors that we operate in. Our core business is in engineering and construction and we are a subsidiary of a company listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. Together with our related corporations, we have a 44-year track record in the local and overseas engineering and construction and property development industries.

6. We are proud that we secured a contract to undertake part of the APH project based on our expertise, technical know-how, competitive advantate and track record.
