Government Will Maintain Kamunting To Combat Threat To Security

(Bernama) — The government will maintain the Kamunting Detention Centre as it is an important installation to combat any threat to national security.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, in response to a question regarding any plans to vacate the Kamunting facility, said: "Kamunting is there for a reason because it is to protect against threat to security. They (the current detainees) are a threat to security."

He also said that he would do whatever provided by the law to protect the citizens of Malaysia against any threat to their security.

"If there are people out there who are a threat to security, I will fill Kamunting to the brim," he said after handing over Malaysian citizenship certificates to 92 people.
