Forbes Media, which publishes Forbes and Forbes Asia Magazines, sees the Internet as an opportunity rather than a competitor to its business, said Forbes Asia President, William P.Adamopoulos.

In fact, Forbes.Com is the number one source of subscription for Forbes Magazine as it is not news-based but forward looking with analytical articles.

"Lots of resources are put into Forbes.com and we see it being complementary to the magazine. We have actually grown Forbes' circulation and print to 5 million (copies) a month globally," Adamopoulos said.

Forbes.Com is already as big as the print business, he said, adding that it receives 20 million visitors every month.

"Together, we reach about 25 million people every month. However, for other news weekly or business weekly there has been a lot of "cannibalism".

"One difference between us and the competitiors is we do not only have corporate senior management and chief executives, but also special emphasis is placed on those who have the capital," he said at a press conference here today.

Adamopoulos said Forbes' major competitors on the Internet were not other magazines but newspapers such as Wall Street Journal.

"The Internet has just been a wonderful opportunity to establish Forbes brand," he added.

"Our readers tend to be owners of businesses, capital and people who aspire to be in those kind of leadership position," said William.
