MCA revokes Chua’s sacking but suspends him for 4 yrs

(Malaysian Mirror) KUALA LUMPUR – In a sudden about-turn, the MCA central committe has revoked an earlier decision by the presidential council to sack deputy president Chua Soi Lek, but it slapped on a four-year suspension on all his party posts.

“The Central Committee after due deliberation resolved to reduce the sentence meted out by the disciplinary board and endorsed by the Presidential Council. Hence, the present decision to suspend his membership and party post,” MCA president Ong Tee Keat told a press conference late on Saturday.

“In dealing with any disciplinary action, whether or not there is an appeal, the CC has the power to review the Presidential Council’s decision and make a final decision on the matter pursuant to the party constitution,”

“Further, there are precedents where the decisions of the Presidential Council have been reviewed.”
