The FED, Selcat, DOs and Isa
The Malaysian Insider reports that a group of district officers (DOs) are unhappy with the way they were grilled by Selcat. Datuk Hassan Ali, came to their rescue claiming “They feel they were humiliated, their image had been tarnished and they were treated not as senior government officials but as school kids.”
The above video shows how the Inspector General of the Federal Reserve was grilled by lawmakers because she did not know where $1 trillion went. Well actually, its probably not quite accurate as money is just flowing like water in the Fed, and heck, I don't think anybody knows where the moneys going.
This is just one clip. There is another clip where the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, or the most powerful Finance Minister in the world, was grilled by an Asian American lawmaker. Tried to search for it, but cant seem to have the right search keys. Funny thing Americans don't consider this an "Asian American" grilling a Jewish American.
Now back to events closer to home. To some degree, the decision of SELCAT to publicly grill the District Officers is perhaps against Malay custom; partly that was why DS Khir Toyo lost the state because of the 'penyapu' episode.
Furthermore, it is quite evident the Selangor State Government is being run by the DAP which causing many people to be quite upset; SELCAT is yet another example of that.
However, the question is where public sympathy lies? After all, Government Officers, wield a lot of power and some of them are commonly known as being Little Napoleons, so some may say, serves them right. However, its usually politically immature to try and attack them so openly, and especially when your own Government has its fair share of dubious connections.
Will this amount to yet another crisis?
