Indians ‘more confident in BN government now’

(NST) PORT DICKSON: While some people feel the Indian community's support for MIC is deteriorating, two former party leaders say that the results of the Bagan Pinang state elections will prove otherwise.

Former MIC Wanita chief Datin Paduka Jaya Parthiban said there had been a change in attitude since the last general election and the community was becoming more confident in Barisan Nasional.

She said the prime minister's new measures to uplift the well-being of all races in the country had caught the attention of the Indians and they were more confident that their needs would be better taken care of.

She said the community was merely "disappointed with MIC" but had not lost confidence despite various claims to the contrary.

Former MIC Youth chief S.A. Vigneswaran, who left MIC last year, said that though it could not be denied that there were those in the community who had lost faith in MIC, they still believed in BN, especially in efforts taken by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"Though I may have had my differences with the party, I still believe in BN and am now a member of the BN Supporters Club."
