MB to meet Hasan and DOs over Selcat on Monday

(The Star) SHAH ALAM: Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali has been summoned to meet Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to explain his criticism against the Selangor state assembly’s Select Committee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat).

All nine district officers, including Bakhtiar Husin (Klang) who had accused Selcat of wrongdoings, have also been asked to attend the meeting at 8.45pm on Monday, after the maghrib prayers.

Khalid said the issue arose due to some “miscommunication” among the seven-member Selcat panel, Dr Hasan and the DOs and it could be solved in a closed-door meeting.

“All parties are allowed to raise their concerns and seek clarifications at the meeting which I will chair.

“We will resolve it in an amicable manner. We hope all parties will work as a team to ensure that the state operates efficiently,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Selangor PAS state liaison committee secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the discussions were expected to be “heated” but he stressed that PAS would remain in Pakatan Rakyat.

“We believe the issue can be resolved in a constructive manner,” he said.

Dr Hasan, who was at his office at the state secretariat building refused to comment on the issue.

“Just let me be for two days, I will make a comment soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, Selcat chairman Teng Chang Khim claimed that the issue was Barisan Nasional’s propaganda against the opposition as the committee was professional in carrying out its investigations.

“We have not hurt the feelings of the civil servants. There could be elements of propaganda in this issue and the rakyat must understand that Selcat follows the Commonwealth procedures,” he said.
