Party gives full backing on ideas to improve Selcat

(The Star) SHAH ALAM: Selangor PAS is fully backing Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamed Ali’s call to improve Select Commit-tee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat).

It also agreed that if Selcat accepted the Selangor PAS commissioner’s suggestion, it would be able to better function as an organisation propagating competency, accountability and transparency.

Dr Hasan also said he had been endorsed as the state commissioner and Selangor exco member.

These were among six resolutions passed at a meeting here yesterday.

“The position of state commissioner was made by the party president and the appointment as executive councillor was made by the state chief executive,” said Dr Hasan, adding that by virtue of this, no one had the right to question both appointments.

Dr Hasan told a press conference yesterday that the party’s state liaison committee had discussed and agreed upon six resolutions which included his criticism on the way questioning was carried out by Selcat.

He said Selangor PAS would also ask the state government to study Selcat’s operational machinery for it to gain the people’s respect.

Dr Hasan said the state PAS liaison committee had also passed a resolution that it would always remain with the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

Another resolution passed at yesterday’s meeting was in regard to the relationship between the state government and its civil servants.

Dr Hasan also clarified that he did not question policies but merely commented about methods of implementation.

Dr Hasan said that as responsible exco members, he and his PAS colleagues did not want to see people “going in into a Selcat inquiry smiling and coming out sullen”.

At the sidelines of the meeting, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said the evening meeting had been “very lively with most issues resolved”.
