PAS No. 2: We’ll seek explanation from Hassan

(Malaysian Mirror) – PAS will seek a full explanation from Selangor commissioner Hassan Ali, but for the time being, it will not take any disciplinary action against him for his controversial stand in the Selcat inquiry that runs contrary to the Pakatan Rakyat state government's.

nasha1.JPG“I do not see the need to reach that stage," PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa told reporters on Sunday. "Hasan was merely giving his suggestions and that is not wrong. In that context, there is no need to take disciplinary action.

“But we will ask for an explanation from him on what really happened.”

Remove him from state cabinet

Hassan, a senior member of the Selangor cabinet, has been at odds with his colleagues – not just from the DAP and PKR but there ais also a growing number within PAS that have called for him to appear before the party's power central committee.

Speculation has been rife that he is an Umno trojan horse because of his frequent outbursts that appear aimed at undermining his coalition in favour of the Barisan Nasional.

hassan2.jpgThe latest trouble came about when he slammed Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim for holding the Selcat public inquiry into alleged misuse of state funds by several BN assemblymen.

He called for the inquiry to be shifted behind closed doors so as not to antagonise the senior civil servants called in to act as witnesses.

But his reasoning has not gone down well with other Pakatan leaders, who say if there was no collusion, there should be no reason why the civil servants should not want to testify publicly.

They have called for his removal from the state cabinet.

PAS sticking with Pakatan

The Gombak Setia assemblyman will chair a meeting with other Selangor PAS leaders on Sunday evening to seek their endorsement for his stance on Selcat, an investigative and disciplinary committee in the state parliament.

If they endorse his views, then it would bolster his case with the PAS national leadership, which has been embarrassed by his frequent escapades.

Said Nasharudin: “In any organisation, there will always be a difference in opinions and this normal. I view it as just a difference of ideas and opinions and hopefully, it would not bring any chronic problems to the Selangor government.”

The PAS No. 2 again quashed rumours PAS would leave the Pakatan for the BN. Rumours of a rift had re-emerged as Hassan's supporters threatened to review Selangor PAS's position in the Pakatan state government.

"There is no issue about PAS leaving Pakatan. We hold firmly to our decision at the muktamar in Ipoh and in Shah Alam. Insya-Allah we will face all issues that crop up with a united spirit that we have long built. Selcat was formed with the consensus of PAS, DAP and PKR to govern Selangor."
