Two youth caught taking heroin

(Bernama) KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 29 – Police arrested two youths believed to be Umno Youth members suspected of taking heroin during a raid on a house in Kampung Tengah, Kijal, last night.

Bernama has issued a correction, clarifying that its earlier report saying the two were Umno Youth division leaders was incorrect.

State Narcotics CID chief Supt Roslan Abdul Wahid said the two, aged 41, were among 74 people rounded up during “Ops Sepadu” conducted by the department with the cooperation of the Dungun and Kemaman district police headquarters.

“One of the Umno Youth members was in the living room of the house at about 9pm, while the other was caught with his elder brother in a room of the same house. We also seized a straw tube of what was believed to be heroin from one of them,” he told Bernama here today.

Urine tests on the three suspects showed they were positive for heroin.

One of them was released on police bail after his statement was recorded while the two brothers were brought to the Kemaman Magistrate’s Court before being released on bail of RM3,000 each.

Roslan said the operation was conducted in Dungun and Kemaman’s hot spots by 100 police officers and men from the Narcotics branch in an effort to cleanse the areas of drug trafficking and abuse.
