Shahruddin decides to support Barisan

(NST) – PORT DICKSON: Former Teluk Kemang Parti Keadilan Rakyat committee member Shahruddin Abdul Hamid, who failed to contest as an independent candidate in the Bagan Pinang by-election, has decided to support Barisan Nasional candidate Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.

Shahruddin, who could not find a local proposer on nomination day on Saturday, said he received many invitations from BN and Pakatan Rakyat to help them in the by-election.

“Both parties have asked me to help them but I have decided to show my support for BN,” he said yesterday.

When asked if he would join BN, Shahruddin said he would wait for a few months before making a decision.

“I will wait at least three months, just like a edah (divorce) period, before deciding to join any party. Till then, I will remain independent.”

He denied that his stand to show support for BN was part of a ploy or that he was bought over by BN.

“Nobody forced me to show support for Isa and BN. Since I am party-less and independent, I am entitled to pick any side and I choose BN.”
