It’s BN with a landslide (UPDATED with Chinese Translation)

Barisan Nasional today retains Bagan Pinang with an unprecedented landslide, as Dato Seri Najib's choice of fielding Tan Sri Isa Samad is vindicated with a major UMNO victory over the Opposition.

UMNO's results were impressive. They took the postal votes with a huge majority, netting 3507 votes against a measly 468 votes for PAS. They expanded on this 3000 plus majority by securing major wins in all key election districts.

Even the youth vote which was supposed to be the bastion of Pakatan Rakyat was not spared. The signs were certainly there, especially after a major youth rally featuring YB Khairy and other leaders of Pemuda UMNO was well attended.

The Chinese support for PAS seemed to have evaporated. Voters decided to vote with their hearts and was fully aware of the development Tan Sri Isa had brought to the community. There were also plans to further expand the local tourism industry, with religious temples being adopted as official tourist destination. The fact that the current implosion in MCA did not translate into a loss of confidence by the Chinese on BN suggests that the problems are transient and the community's support can be regained once MCA has weathered through this leadership crisis.
