PM: No reason for disturbance at Perak assembly meeting

(The Star) – There is no reason for disturbance during the Perak state assembly meeting on Oct 28, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

“We (Barisan Nasional) have already formed the state government and this has been sanctioned by the law, although certain processes are still incomplete. This is set and the laws must be respected.

“There is no reason for disturbances or conduct that should otherwise create a wrong impression about politics in Perak,” he told reporters after a closed-door meeting with Perak Umno leaders, here, on Sunday.

Najib, who also launched the Perak Umno song during the meeting, said Barisan Nasional would follow the rules and conduct the sitting according to the law.

Asked if action would be taken against the opposition, which was likely to cause a ruckus similar to that during the May 7 sitting, Najib said whatever action taken would be within the ambit of the law.

“We will not do anything that is against the provisions of the law but I do hope the people will accept that the due process of the law has taken place in Perak, from the formation of the state government to the process in court.

“Don’t forget that the starting point was when they stole one of our assemblymen,” he said, referring to Bota assemblyman Datuk Nasarudin Hashim.

“And so it is actually they who played the game, not us.”
