Sabah PKR to get Sabahan chief

A Sabah PKR meeting today ended weeks of uncertainty when the state’s division chiefs agreed to let the party president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail appoint a new Sabahan state chairman.
The meeting in Kota Kinabalu was chaired by Azmin Ali, whose appointment as the state party leader just four months ago sparked widespread unhappiness.
“From day one, my appointment was on a temporary basis, with the purpose of strengthening the party and after being here for four months, I am satisfied that the leadership has progressed very well,” he told The Malaysian Insider today dismissing the suggestion that he was under pressure to step down.
Azmin said today’s meeting also resolved to let Wan Azizah decide on his replacement.
“I am happy to note that my colleagues are ready and will propose to the party president to identify the new leader to head Sabah PKR,” said Azmin adding that the new state chairman will be named this Sunday.
