‘Autopsy only if coroner says so’
(NST) KUALA LUMPUR: A second post-mortem for Teoh Beng Hock’s inquest will only be conducted if the coroner feels it is necessary to gather more evidence with the family’s agreement.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said the decision lay solely in the hands of the coroner.
On Wednesday, Thailand’s experienced forensic pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunan created a stir at the inquest when she suggested that the former political aide’s death could be homicide.
She offered to carry out a second post-mortem to prove her findings.
She gave her findings based on the autopsy report of the first post-mortem, the X-rays and photographs of the body which were sent to her.
Gani said the family could apply through their lawyer for a second autopsy but it should be done before the inquest was over.
