Nik Aziz hopes PAS leadership issues be solved at special meeting

(Bernama) — PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat hoped the special meeting to be held by the party this Wednesday would resolve issues on leadership in the party.

He said it did not matter if it was only a special meeting called by the party, instead of an extraordinary general meeting which he had proposed, because there were the same.

“What is important is a platform to convey our message to the party leadership,” he said after the Kelantan State Assembly sitting at Kota Darulnaim here today.

Last Friday, the Kelantan Menteri Besar, in his blog, www.bloktokguru.com, suggested that the party hold an EGM to rid the party of “problematic leaders”, believed those who are in favour of a unity government, an idea mooted by several senior PAS leaders, including its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, and deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa.

Nik Abdul Aziz mentioned three leaders in his blog, namely Nasharuddin, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali and Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hassan Ali.

Following the “shocking” statement, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub, met Nik Abdul Aziz on Saturday.

Yesterday, Salahuddin said PAS would not hold an EGM as proposed by Nik Abdul Aziz, instead it would convene a special meeting to discuss issues of the party.
