PAS disciplinary panel begins probe on Selangor

The PAS disciplinary committee today confirmed that it has begun investigations into allegations related to the party’s Selangor liaison body.

Committee chairman Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man told The Malaysian Insider the investigations are for “making statements detrimental to the party” and the complaint was lodged recently.

Tuan Ibrahim, however, refused to name the state party leaders who are under investigation.

“We have identified the people who need to be called, and we will verify the evidence tendered to the committee,” he said.

“About five to six people are expected to be called, but just because they are called doesn’t mean they are guilty,” he added.

He said the committee will meet this Saturday and the investigation will be completed as soon as possible.

“We have received commitments from those involved in the investigation that they will co-operate,” said Tuan Ibrahim.

He hoped all party members who make complaints to the committee will furnish their reports with evidence.

“We cannot just act based on media statements or blog entries,” he said.

Late last night the Islamist party’s central committee resolved that the disciplinary committee investigates issues concerning Selangor PAS.

The decision was made in response to Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s call for a special muktamar to oust “problematic” leaders.
