Selangor PAS wants wider internal probe

After it was decided that the PAS’ disciplinary committee will investigate allegations against Selangor PAS, the state arm today urged the committee to cast its net wider.

Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman called on the party’s disciplinary committee to also probe those who had hurled accusations against Selangor PAS.

“Should the accusations be found to be untrue, stern action must be taken against them because the allegations had sparked instability and tarnished the party’s image,” Khairuddin said in a statement today.

Khairuddin also wanted stern action to be taken against members who were found to have revealed party secrets to the public via the media and blogs.

All PAS members should respect the disciplinary committee’s role by not discussing the issue until the investigation has been completed and action taken, Khairuddin said.

He added that the disciplinary committee must conduct a thorough investigation to cleanse PAS from “elements” that had destabilised the party.

PAS central working committee on Wednesday tasked the disciplinary committee, headed by Tuan Datuk Ibrahim Tuan Man, with investigating allegations against Selangor PAS.

After the four-hour meeting, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang also announced that the party would not hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) as suggested by PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat but would hold a seminar instead.

Nik Aziz caused a stir when he suggested the move to remove several “problematic” party leaders.
