The Road Ahead for Us

Do YOU know where you're going to where our nation is concerned? Have you given any thought about the road ahead for us? Have you given up hope and are you waiting in the shadows thinking that all will crumble and that nothing will ever put it back in order again? Have no fear…there IS hope after all despite the nonsense that we see before us.
Before I attended the Sembang-Sembang Forum where Datuk Zaid Ibrahim and Dr. Mansor Othman, Penang Deputy Chief Minister I spoke about The Two-Party System in Malaysia, I had a very fuzzy vision of what lies ahead for my beloved country. Being a natural born pessimist converted to optimist through hard knocks in life, I oft wondered if things would be any better if the Opposition took over the reins of power. Too often, my heart did not leap for joy or in excitement in the light of the many depressing developments. Last night's forum, however, made a difference in my heart and I would like to share my perspectives with you.
From the minute he entered the hall that was filled with about 300 people, I was struck by Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's humble demeanour. It was the second time I came up close and personal with him and I knew deep in my heart there stands a man who lives by what he says and who spoke with much earnestness and sincerity. Similarly, Dr.Mansor had charisma and his smiling face throughout certainly reinforced the fact that this was the first time that a Deputy CM of Penang could sit so informally with the rakyat to share his views and to listen to us. For a man who holds a doctorate from Yale University, Dr. Mansor is definitely one leader who is down-to-earth with no airs about him at all! Click HERE
For the first time in my life, I made 15 pages of notes at a forum. I have to confess that I usually carry a book with me just in case….and last night, I had Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse Five" in my bag and I did not have to read it at all but was instead, making notes furiously till I came home with cramps in my arm.
