Collective political amnesia

Recently, Malaysian medical professions have identified a new disease called “collective political amnesia”. Most of the patients are politicians.

The recent release of Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) report by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has shown us the horror of the disease’s symptoms. Its spreading speed and impact are comparable with influenza A1H1.

It turned out that some people sometimes will suddenly lose their shrewd ability to judge, and simply approve a project involving millions of ringgit. And then, they will somehow collectively suffer from amnesia, forgetting the past, present and everything.

Because of amnesia, therefore, “I don’t remember” and “I don’t know”.

Therefore, he only knew how to sign a contract but didn’t know about the details.

He didn’t know how many major contracts were involved and they even hadn’t been approved by the Board of Directors.

“The society turns more and more chaotic while politics is in a mess.”

He also didn’t know that the Treasury had advised that raising funds with government bonds would be better than paying instalment with 7.5% of interest charge. As for her, she knew nothing about cash flow, “couldn’t remember” and “has forgotten about the then situation”. Therefore, she didn’t know whether Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB) did submit a complete proposal for the development plan involving RM1 billion. She also knew nothing about the three supporting letters.

Similarly, another man also “couldn’t remember anything”. He couldn’t remember whether he did use someone’s private jet and whether he did receive someone’s goods. He also couldn’t remember about the details of a development plan, whether there were other bidders for the project and whether a particular company had been attempting to develop the basic infrastructure of Pulau Indah.

Meanwhile, another man needed to refer to the meeting minutes as he could no longer remember whether the PKFZ project had been brought to the Board of Directors for discussion.

He also could not remember what decision had been made by the Port Klang Authority on the subject of land expropriation.

How many contracts had been signed by the Port Klang Authority? His answer was: Even the then Port Klang Authority had no idea about it.

They didn’t remember and they didn’t know. How could there be so many unbelievable and absurd decisions? What actually happened?

The society turns more and more chaotic while politics is in a mess. Politicians are either confused about their identities or simply suffer from amnesia. They forget about this today and can’t remember about that tomorrow. Eventually, they have forgotten about the country’s image, as well as the people’s interests. The society is just so unjust. How could the people of “1Malaysia”, including you and me, not feel depressed and wonder while feeling like crying? Perhaps, nothing is more lamentable and we can just “forget about everything” and “know about nothing”!
