Jeffrey makes his demands known to PKR leadership

(The Star) – Maverick Sabah politician Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has spelt out his demands in a meeting with PKR strategic director Tian Chua.

Following the three-and-half-hour meeting at his hilltop Sokid Villa here that ended at about 7.30pm, Dr Jeffrey said he was waiting to see how the PKR leadership would respond to his demands before deciding his next course of action.

The meeting with Tian Chua comes amid growing talk that Dr Jeffrey is moving towards the formation of a party.

“I am giving them a chance to improve things. Let’s see what happens. We are reasonable people,” he told The Star.

Dr Jeffrey, who abruptly quit as PKR vicepresident two weeks ago, said he was seeking comprehensive solutions to address existing and future problems and policies affecting Sabah and Sarawak.

He said it was crucial for PKR leaders to understand the various issues in Sabah.

He reiterated that he did not resign because of the appointment of Ahmad Thamrin Zaini as state party chief.

Ahmad Thamrin had replace vice-president Azmin Ali.

“Rather it is about the decision-making process in the party,” he said.

Dr Jeffrey’s list of demands include the call to restructure PKR to recognise the special positions of Sabah and Sarawak.

“As such PKR has to reform to accommodate this uniqueness,” he said.
