PKR won’t lose sleep over RPK’s warning

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategy director Chua Tian Chang says Pakatan Rakyat (PR) assemblymen in Selangor should just focus on raising their performance and the people’s standard of living, and not be too distracted by Raja Petra Kamarudin’s warning that the state government could be toppled by Barisan Nasional (BN) next January.
Agreeing with the Malaysia Today host-blogger that what happened in Perak could happen in Selangor, Tian told FMT that UMNO chief Najib Razak and other BN leaders had always had it in them to abuse their powers–like using the ISA or MACC–to frustrate the opposition.
“But I won’t want to spend more than a minute over such a possibility,” he said.
“PKR wakil rakyat need to concentrate on doing our job, that is, governing Selangor well,” was Tian’s central message in responding to Raja Petra, also known as RPK.
He said the PR government’s job was to improve on the state’s delivery of services to the people and implementing more welfare programmes for the needy.
Tian stressed that party members and supporters must not be distracted by unneccessary worries but focus on building up the party by doing the right and important things.
“At the end of the day, the voters will decide in elections, which must be held even after a state government has been overthrown; so the final power is still in the hands of the electorate.”
Raja Petra, who is reportedly overseas in self-imposed exile, still regularly updates his huge following of readers with insider views on key political events in the country.
