Note to PKR: Let S’wak be secular

Dr John Brian Anthony, a Kuala Lumpur-based consultant, has suggested that Parti Keadilan Rakyat or the Pakatan Rakyat should sign an agreement to commit them to respect the rights of Sarawak which are embedded in the 18-point Malaysian agreement before Sarawakians can start to support the party.

“The Ketuanan Melayu system must stop immediately and Sarawak must be left to its secular status in its belief system,” he wrote in his blog, The Dayak Baru.

He said: “PKR or PR must commit to accelerated development by raising the oil royalty to 45% and dismantle the ‘big companies’ structure.

“Land ownership must be made a priority – with titles and a system of land development with the land owner’s participation in the share of wealth derived.

“If PKR or PR does not want to sign the agreement, I do not see any difference between PR and BN,” he said.

He however believes that PR is more interested in retaining Selangor and other States and may even be eyeing Johor as these states provide them more business opportunities.

‘Dayak issues not important’

“Dayak issues are not a priority to PKR,” he said, adding that Sarawak and Sabah are only important to PKR in the same way they are important to Umno.
