SAPP predicts Musa Aman out of job after next polls

(Free Malaysia Today) – The big question in Malaysian politics is whether Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak will call snap elections next year.

If he does, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman will be out of a job that soon.

At least that’s what Yong Teck Lee, the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president, thinks.

Yong, whose party is ready to work with the opposition as Pakatan Rakyat Plus and fight for political autonomy in Sabah, is confidently predicting his SAPP is the State Government-in-waiting.

And, Yong made it clear he plans to do this even without joining the Pakatan Rakyat alliance.

SAPP, a former Barisan Nasional component,  is confident of winning 40 State seats when the 13th General Election is held and forming the next State Government.

“Having all the quality and correct political culture based on the party’s values, SAPP is the State Government-in-waiting,” Yong told a gathering of party members here a few days ago.

Opening the party’s Kota Kinabalu Zone Annual General Meeting, Yong reiterated that his  Sabah-based opposition party would not be joining the Pakatan Rakyat  to take on the Umno-led Barisan Nasional but was willing to work out a pact.

“We had conveyed our stand to the PR leadership, especially Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. But come elections SAPP and Pakatan can be friends. We hope to be able to work on a one-to-one deal with Pakatan component parties to fight BN in the next elections. Until now, there has been no response from Pakatan,” Yong said.
