Teoh inquest delayed, now on Dec 17

(Malaysian Mirror) – The inquest into the death of Teoh Beng Hock has been postponed to Dec 17 as the pathologists’ reports are not ready after the second autopsy was conducted.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) legal director Abdul Razak Musa was reported as saying the reports had yet to be finalised.teoh-beng-hock.jpg

Teoh, 30, was found dead on the fifth floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam on July 16 after being questioned overnight at the Selangor MACC office, located on the 14th floor of the building.

He was the political secretary to Selangor exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah.

He had been summoned for questioning over the disbursement of state funds by his employer.

At the inquest, renowned Thai forensics specialist Dr Pornthip Rojansunand testified that the likely cause of death was homicide rather than suicide.

Exhumed for 2nd autopsy

His body was exhumed on Nov 22 after the coroner ordered a second post-mortem that was carried out the same day by Sungai Buloh Hospital Pathology and Forensics Department chief Dr Shahidan Md Noor.

Pornthip, British forensic pathologist Prof Peter Vanezis (appointed by the MACC), and local pathologists Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim and Dr Prashant Naresh Samberkar were allowed to observe the process.
