Lim: Report against Pornthip a test case

(The Star) – The Malay -sian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) police report against a Thai pathologist will be a test case for the new commission chief and Selangor police, veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang said.

“Either Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed (MACC chief commissioner) assumes full responsibility for the police report or he should direct the report to be withdrawn if it does not have the sanction of the MACC,” he said.

Kit Siang was referring to Friday’s police report by a MACC officer against Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand in which she was accused of leaking a forensic report related to the inquest on the death of Selangor DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

In a statement yesterday, he said MACC should not be seen as trying to intimidate Dr Pornthip from truthfully giving her expert testimony.

He cited last week’s remarks by Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar that the police would call up Selangor DAP chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah for allegedly intimidating the police by “directing” them to cease their probe on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who had apparently remarked that Teoh had been murdered.
